Decision-Making Styles and Teachers’-Morale…The concepts of decision-making and teachers’ morale have been extensively, through not exhaustively, discussed in this chapter. In the purpose of this study, a little more has to be said about school moral which in any case is not easily a school for the first time; he develops most immediately a feeling about that school. This feeling emanates from the view of how satisfied ad contented the teachers and students are; he will base his decision to either stay or seek for transfer on the other things observed in the school. Those factors give each a personality, spirit, a culture and in fact they are all indicative of school moral. It has been said already that the principal’s decision-making styles can affect the school morale. If the teachers and students perceive the style as favourable, that cultivate good moral and this becomes an asset for the school.
Decision-Making Styles and Teachers’-Morale
Decision-making is best done as a shared responsibility because it creates in the participants sense of belonging, understanding of situation, raises their morals as teachers, and increases their enthasiam for school organization. These not withstanding, an excessive involvement of teachers in schools decision-making might create a negative effect on them. They might not appreciate the idea of too frequent staff meetings to solve very little problems. The principal needs to know when to bring in the staff and when not to.
